Have A Happy 2022 With Our Anti-Diet Book Club!

Happy 2022 to you!

If you're like us here at Happy Valley Nutrition Headquarters, you've given up on New Years dieting resolutions. (Or, even better- no resolutions at all! We are "New Year, Same You!" type of people).

If your social media has been any indication, this time of year marks the dieting industry’s time to make BANK on our insecurities, time, money, and well- being by promoting weight loss in the guise of health and wellness.

Newsflash- dieting just doesn't work in the long term. Plain and simple.  In fact, research tells us:

  • Approximately 70% of Americans have dieted at some point in their lives.

  • BUT- upwards of 90% of people who intentionally lose weight gain it back within five years. (Ummm, what?)

  • Over 66% of people who embark on weight-loss efforts end up gaining more weight than they lost.

  • CLEARLY, dieting is ineffective, yet our culture is obsessed with it! (which is why we say FU Diet Culture every damn day!)

When discussing food and body liberation with our clients, conversations around dieting and the desire for weight loss inevitably come up. It got us thinking…why not bring this dialogue that we are having on the reg in our sessions into a common space and talk about it as a community? And, we both LOVE a good book!

Light bulb! What better way than to create a Non-Diet/Food Freedom book club where we spend the month talking about a book that relates to the work we do here at Happy Valley Nutrition.

INTRODUCING:

Interested in the deets?

  • FREE book club over Zoom weekly starting on Thursday Jan 27th from 6:00 pm-7:00pm until February 24th.

  • Please have a copy of Christy Harrison's book, Anti-Diet before we start

  • Feel free to show up in any way that feels comfortable to you (pets, snuggly blankets, dinner, or warm cups of tea welcomed!)

  • The purpose of the group is to provide space for curiosity and open discussion around the ways in which we relate to our body, food, and the all encompassing societal pressure we call diet culture. No need to “fix”, come as you are and let’s have a conversation.

  • This is open to ANYONE in their non-diet journey- from newbies to those more seasoned. ALL ARE WELCOME!

You can sign up by emailing hello@happyvalleynutrition or by responding to this email.
Please sign up no later than January 21st- there may be some reading ahead of time.

Looking forward to seeing you!
