What is Insulin Resistance - a weight-inclusive approach {Video for you}

Have we got a good one for you today. Heidi, our weight-inclusive Diabetes Educator Extraordinaire, is back at it today with one of her informative videos.

Today's topic is all about insulin resistance and insulin sensitivity.

You may have heard these terms before- perhaps from your PCP, the socials, or a well-meaning parent telling you to watch your sugar or go keto (Don't do that.)

Yes, insulin resistance is a thing.

Yes, some people are genetically more predisposed to insulin resistance.

NO, it is not your fault.

NO, insulin resistance is NOT CAUSED BY EATING SUGAR.

(Let's shout that one a little louder: NO, you did not cause your insulin resistance from your food choices. Thanks diet culture for giving us that BS information.)

And YES, there are some really amazing things you can do that do NOT involve losing weight or cutting out sugar or all carbohydrates that can help you manage insulin resistance.
