Being in midlife doesn't have to suck
There's a lot of stuff happening in our world right now that totally, utterly, and completely SUCKS.
But I will politely disagree with you if you think that being in your midlife transition has to suck, too.
If you're someone in the perimenopause/menopause transition and feeling so not like yourself, or you don't know which version of you is going to show up today, I SEE YOU.
This time is wild AF. Here are just a few examples from MY life:
While I can remember all of the lyrics to a Salt-n-Pepa song from 1993, I cannot for the life of me remember what I ate for lunch yesterday.
I cannot remember the last time I had a restful, full night's sleep
Sometimes I feel the urge, out of nowhere, to punch someone in the face (sorry, husband) for just asking me a question (Please note I NEVER act on this!)
Symptoms like itchy ears and skin, joint pain, thinking I smell weird even though I just got out of the shower, weight training but not being able to see any muscles, fatigue up the wazoo....
And despite all of the above, I AM DOING OK! Dare I say, thriving?
And do you want to know why?
Well, yes, the hormone replacement therapy I use is one thing.
Because I have friends and a community that are also going through this, too. I know what is happening is NORMAL and I AM NOT ALONE!
My dear friend and colleague, therapist Jamie Salacup (she/her) and I are running another cycle of Midlife Transitions: Peers and Support Around Perimenopause and Menopause, a group for those who are currently experiencing the weird and often wacky time that is midlife and need some support and community.
We created this group because both of us are smack dab in the middle of perimenopause and need to be surrounded by others who just get it. #ifyouknowyouknow.
Midlife Transitions will take place VIRTUALLY Wednesday, April 16th from 5:30-6:45pm for 5 weeks. Cost is $147 for the series.
Each group meeting will have a theme but no lecture or teaching. Rather, this is a place to process, to bring your frustrations, your "what the hecks?," your grief (and the best memes about midlife you can find) in a space where others will get you.
As someone who specializes in working with people in the perimenopausal and menopausal space, the most common thing I hear from my clients is: “I feel lonely.. Do you have a group for this?”
And now we do.
Click here for more information: Registration is open TODAY and will close on April 13th, 2025.
